Brian Goggin - The Art of San Francisco

Brian Goggin

I’m a multidisciplinary artist exploring how art interacts with landscape and public space, moving beyond the limits of traditional painting and sculpture. My work transforms environments through unexpected materials and locations. I first gained national attention with Defenestration (1997), an NEA-funded installation featuring furniture bursting from a San Francisco building—now an unofficial city landmark. Since then, I’ve created public artworks like Language of the Birds, Labyrinth at Yahoo, and Samson at the Sacramento International Airport. Each piece invites viewers to reimagine their surroundings and engage with art in everyday spaces.
