Daniel Iturralde - The Art of San Francisco

Brigid Horgan

I’m a San Francisco-based abstract painter by way of Texas, and have been teaching art at the same public school in the Peninsula for over 20 years. My paintings reflect my love of nature, and touch upon ideas of time passing, energy, and the feminine. I often paint like a printmaker, applying one color at a time, layering colors as the work progresses. While I never know exactly what the final painting will look like, I try to evoke a feeling that is similar to the emotional experiences I have while being outdoors, whether it be the result of light and fog changing colors, or life force I sense from the flora and fauna around me. My hope is that the viewer will have a similar experience and be encouraged to spend time outside appreciating the wonders and beauty of nature.
